We the proud parents of our late son Kevin Gillies who was a well respected young fisherman
hope you will support our campaign for justice for our son.
For the past six years we have been fighting for honest answers from Northern Constabulary and the Crown Office who are with holding vital information into the death of our son.
We Believe they are doing this to protect the officer who botched the investigation and the driver who mowed down and killed Kevin on Christmas Eve 1999.
No parent should have to endure the constant lies and deception at the hands off the Police and the Crown.
All we ask is for Justice and
for the Lord Advocate for Scotland to listen to our concerns. As head of the Crown Office we would like him to intervene and stamp out the on going cover ups.
Our son met with a horrific death which could have been avoided if proper procedures were performed by Skye and Lochalsh Council.
They gave a taxi licence to the driver involved knowing that he had eyesight problems and a previous drink driving conviction prior to obtaining the taxi licence.
Again like the Police and the Crown Office they refuse to give the family any information.
We urge the Chief Constable of Northern Constabulary to renew their force logo (protect and serve).
They certainly did not protect or serve our son on the fateful night of Christmas Eve 1999.
We like many more are well aware who they choose to protect and that was their own officer who handled the incident with such gross negligence, and to protect the driver involved.
Wpc McLeod used degrading practices to try and cover up her negligence by using our Sons death to protect her incompetence.
On the night our Son was killed she informed us kevin was drunk and went to sleep on the road, farcical given leading pathologists rule this out and indeed Police pathologist admitted making a mistake on the alcohol count at our sons Fai so lets rule this out.
Then she claimed Kevin was wearing black clothing and could not be seen by the driver, what she forgot to mention Kevin was wearing a bright orange fleece and was killed in a well lit street again the orange fleece was produced in court could Wpc McLeod have eye sight problem and unable to detect black from orange.
We will never know why she choose to lie and use this degrading action against Kevin and insult his memory to save guard her career .
The Chief Constable Mr. Latimer is unwilling to give the family true honest answers into the bungled investigation by his officers, he continues to demonstrate institutional arrogance towards families fighting for justice.
We had the unfortunate experience of meeting the Assistant Chief Constable Mr. Sutherland when questioned in relation to Kevin’s death he laughed in our face so this demonstrated the lack of respect towards the memory of our much loved son Kevin.
We along with other families will continue to fight for justice and will not rest till Mr. Latimer and his assistant Mr. Sutherland are removed from their positions.
~To be continued~
Kevin's love of fishing and boats shows in this oil based painting he completed shortly before he was killed.
